Today at the School Table

 We answered the questions from Story of the World chapters 41 and 42. When language barriers of the British and Maori people came up, we looked a bit at the study of linguistics and worked one of the easier linguistic puzzles from this page .  Ending Questions about No Summit Out of Sight 26. Jordan’s dad faced a great deal of criticism for taking him on these adventures. He finally says to the media, “You want to talk about irresponsible parenting? Let’s talk about the million and some parents that are standing in a fast-food restaurant waiting to supersize their kid right now for dinner tonight.” What do you think of his statement? Is he right? Which is actually more dangerous long-term? McLean says: Long term, burgers might be more dangerous, but short term, it kind of depends because inexperience could cause death! For HW: 1. Read chapters 41-42 of Story of the World . (The last ones in the third book) 2. Answer the chapter questions. 3. Read No Summit Out of Sight chapters 26-29. 4. Finish your essay on Victorian communication. 5. Choose one page in your Mindfulness journal to fill in with at least five sentences.  At the table today we:  1. We began today talking about the difference between England/UK/Britain/British Isles/etc. and filled out the map and chart for that.  McLean wrote a response to this: I wonder why the Republic of Ireland isn't a part of the crown. I bet most people from Canada and Australia don't really care about the fact that British technically rule over them. I got a little lost when the video was talking about the differences between British Isles, UK, Ireland, and the Common Wealth. 2. We then filled out the maps

 1. Read chapters 39-40 Story of the World . 2. Answer the questions (given at the school table 3/1/21) 3. Mindfulness Journal p 109-110. 4. No Summit Out of Sight 22-25. 5. Essay rough draft: come on Friday with as much of the essay written out as possible. We will work on the final draft together. Today:  We watched an Alamo Battlefield Tour We began "The Man With the Twisted Lip," #6 of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes  setting up a literary elements Story Graphic Organizer. (We're about halfway through the story to:  “Thank you, Mrs. St. Clair. Those are the principal points about which I wished to be absolutely clear. We shall now have a little supper and then retire, for we may have a very busy day to-morrow.”) On Friday we will: 1. Go over the HW questions 2.  On this rainy day at the school table, we... 1. Went over the questions for chapters 37 and 38 for Story of the World . McLean wrote a response paragraph to the Trail of Tears. 2. Talked about the chapters from No Summit Out of Sight . McLean gave a verbal summary of the chapters she read.
