Give proof through the night that our flag was still there. This line refers to how the bombs gave off light and Francis Scott Key could still see the flag.
I remember at a few football games this song was playing, and I just remember thinking how beautiful this song is without knowing what it meant. It's amazing that a song can touch someone like that without the person knowing what it means.
