At the School Room Table Today

1. We reviewed the answers to the questions from chapters 23 and 24.

2. We discussed the ending of Where the Mountain Meets the Moon and wrote a response paragraph for the book.

2. We memorized the Preamble of the Constitution using pics and songs.

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

3. We outlined the Articles of the Constitution using pictures.

4. We reviewed the grammar phrases and clauses we have covered this semester and wrote sentences using them about the Articles. McLean's sentences are in italics below.

                    Complex Sentence: Because Biden is the new President, he can approve new laws.

                    Compound Sentence: Congress can approve laws, but they aren't automatically legal.

                    Appositive Phrase: George Washington, the first President, wanted to be a farmer.

                    Infinitive Phrase: It took nine states to ratify the Constitution.

                    Adjective Clause: The judicial branch is that branch that interprets laws. 

                    Participial Phrase: George Washington, wanting to be a farmer, became President instead.

5. We outlined what we will do on our presentation day, December 4:

Make the jaozi, set up a painting station, label each with characters, create a slide show with narration of the Angel Baby story

Arrange a time when your family can come. : )

6. McLean wrote a paragraph to summarize her thoughts and feelings about how our class is going this semester:

Throughout history class, I have been learning about different kinds of culture. I have enjoyed how we discuss and appreciate the cultures like with the Japanese tea ceremony and painting in a Chinese way. Doing this makes me get more of a feel and an appreciation for each culture. 

7. The only HW for the next week is to FINISH THE ANGEL BABY STORY. : ) Draw some illustrations

For HW: 1. Read chapters 41-42 of Story of the World . (The last ones in the third book) 2. Answer the chapter questions. 3. Read No Summit Out of Sight chapters 26-29. 4. Finish your essay on Victorian communication. 5. Choose one page in your Mindfulness journal to fill in with at least five sentences.  At the table today we:  1. We began today talking about the difference between England/UK/Britain/British Isles/etc. and filled out the map and chart for that.  McLean wrote a response to this: I wonder why the Republic of Ireland isn't a part of the crown. I bet most people from Canada and Australia don't really care about the fact that British technically rule over them.
