At the School Room Table 10/30

 Today at the School Room table we:

1. Reviewed the answers to all of the history questions from Chapters 17 and 18 in SotW.
2. Went over the adjective clause homework sheet.
3. Wrote a few adjective clause sentences to sum up the history chapters 17 and 18.
4. Answered the questions from WtMMtM

• Describe the dragon that Minli untied. He was brilliant red, emerald green whiskers, horns and a dull stone-colored ball like the moon on his forehead. (p. 46)
• Who joined Minli on her journey to Never Ending Mountain? The red dragon joined her. (p. 48)
• What happened when the dragon’s eyes were dotted? The dragon could see, he felt strong, became alive and escaped by crashing through the wall. (p. 57)
• Why do the Monkeys not want to let anyone through? They are “Greedy Things” and do not want to share the peaches.
• What did the old man do to change the goldfish man's fortune? He changed the 19 to 99 in the book of fortune. (p.66)
• Describe how Minli tricked the monkeys so they could get passed them to the peach grove. She cooked rice and covered the pot with the fish net. The monkey fists were full of rice and got stuck in the net because they would not let go of the rice. (p. 78)
• What did Ba say trying to find Minli was like? Like trying to find the paper of happiness (p.80)
• What happened to the secret of happiness before it was delivered to the Tiger Magistrate? The box it was being carried in fell and the lid flew open and the slip of paper was carried away with the wind. (p.84)
• What did the soldier closest to the slip of paper notice? That the slip of paper contained just one word written over and over again. (p.86)
• What were the directions to Never Ending Mountain? Go west until the City of Bright Moonlight, find the Guardian of the City and ask for the borrowed line. (p. 89)
• Why did the goldfish think that the dragon was its Aunt Jin? Because Aunt Jin always said she would come back to show them that the Dragon Gate was real. (p.90)
• What will happen if a fish swims through the Dragon Gate? The fish will change into the form of a flying dragon. (p.93)
• Who wears a golden dragon? The emperor and kings wear the golden dragon. (p. 99)
• When is the only time people are allowed into the Inner City? During the Moon Festival. (p.100)
• Where did the Buffalo Boy's friend say that Minli might be able to find the King? The Market of Green Abundance (p.113)

1. Did the experiment to create a compass just as Minli did in the book.
2. Talked more about Chinese culture
3. Watched a few videos about symbolism in Chinese culture.
4. Discussed symbolism in WtMMtM. 
5. Created a symbol for McLean and McLean wrote a paragraph describing this symbol's meaning.
